Every Sunday morning the kids from the age of 6 attend training at the Elephant pitches.
2 different groups are organised : beginners (U7 and some U8) who are just discovering all the fun of playing football and an older group who have already acquired some skills (some aged U8 and U9).
Training starts with a warm-up, followed by different exercises aimed at developing various skills : running with the ball, shooting, passing, attack/defence, … The last 30 minutes are devoted to trying out these skills by playing, the “numbers” game and a match.
After training, it’s time for a waffle and a soft drink whilst sharing with others all the emotions and experiences on the pitch.
To play football on Sunday mornings in the best conditions, children have been asked to bring water, to be dressed appropriately in winter, and to wear shin pads.
In April and May, WEZWA U9 will participate in a few tournaments in Brussels and Wallonia, where our young players will have the opportunity to assess their progress compared to competitive Belgian clubs. Even if we usually do quite well, the main aim is to have fun and learn fair play.
WEZWA U9 Trainers are : François, Ieuan, Stella, Joshua, Bob and Colm.
